Discolored water in Pecan

October 13, 2025

The source of the coloration has been identified at one of our wells, which we have removed from service. The color is due to precipitated iron content from this well.

As stated, we have taken the well offline until the issue can be resolved. Lines in the area have been flushed and we are seeing clear water out of our mains. If you have been affected there may be some residual colored water left in the lines and water tanks within your plumbing but the issue should clear up.

While we recognize colored water can be alarming, the water itself is safe. Iron is common constituent found in drinking water supplies and has no maximum contaminant level in regards to public health and safety as set forth by the EPA.

If the issue is persisting please let us know. If you need anything else or have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
